RARE Il Bisonte Cream Tan Soft Leather Vintage Clutch With Tags (Excellent Cond)

This is truly a beautiful vintage 80's genuine Il Bisonte Italian made clutch - already a VERY hard to find piece, and all the more difficult to find given its wonderful condition. The former owner received this clutch as a gift, but given his already at the time extensive bag collection - it was lost in the fray and never used. This clutch still has the original Il Bisonte certificate of authentication tag in Italian script. As for the bag itself, well - condition is as you would expect of a piece that was never actually used.

The leather is without tears, stains, frays, holes, etc. The color is truly something to behold - I've come across a few deep colored Il Bisonte clutches through the years, but this light cream colored leather is seldom seen on Bisonte pieces. One of my favorite elements of this piece has to be the closure, a brass zipper track line on an almost "military style" light brown cotton canvas fiber that "floats" over the sides of the bag. I cannot stress just how cool and different this is in person.

Normally, a top closure zipper track line runs the length of the bag, however - I've never seen one that continues on to the sides, and that is actually lengthier than the bag itself. The combination of the "military style light cream tan" of the cotton fiber canvas at the top of the bag, up against the deeper colored brown thick leather of the body of the bag itself - is the PERFECT mix. The leather on the body of the bag itself is thick, plush, malleable, and soft - not stiff, hard, weathered, or flaky as you find on most vintage Bisonte bags.

At the center of this piece, of course, you have the now world famous "Il Bisonte" logo - incredibly sharp, defined, crisp, and beautifully shadowed because of its deeper styled indentation. Another element of this clutch that makes it unique for Il Bisonte (and unique from other clutches in general) is the fact that the bottom of this piece is rectangular - meaning the bag actually stands upright when you set it down. The bottom is also slightly "raised" so when you do set it down, you do not stain the bottom of this stunning light colored leather Bisonte clutch. At the bottom of the bag, there is yet another etched Bisonte identifier which reads Designed by W. DI FILIPPO: Genuine Leather: Made in Italy.

" To the left of this engraved descriptor is the Il Bisonte logo - a leaping bison over a star with the brand name "Il Bisonte. The back of this bag is one solid canvas of arguably some of the world's finest quality leather. They left the back simple, I believe, because the leather in and of itself is enough... As beautiful as the exterior of this bag is, I have to say that it is the interior of the bag that makes this piece what it is.

Most Il Bisonte interiors are canvas cotton, there are VERY few out there with leather at the interiors as well as the exteriors. This bag, however - is one of those few.

The inside of this piece is all leather, and a leather that is SOFTER than any that I have encountered in over 30 years as a collector. To myself, it almost feels as though it is pigskin? It is impeccably conditioned - not a flaw of note - and is a lovely light cream color. The photos do not to the interior of this bag justice. Only when you feel the material, can you actually grasp the quality of this bag's inside. Stunning - and ultra plush.. You certainly do not have to worry about any of your easily scratched items when thrown in this clutch. Would truly love to know Bisonte's secret here.. As I've never seen an interior done in this way. The zipper pull that runs along the brass trackline on this piece is etched with the Bisonte insignia.

On one side, "Il Bisonte, " on the other, the leaping bison. Overall, I feel as though my passion about this piece comes through in my description. It is beautiful in every way, and being that the bag was made in the 1980's, and part of a limited production - I would venture to say that there are very few still out there, and an even fewer in this condition, with the original certificate of authenticity.
